Brian Walden

 

Television Presenter, Journalist and Former Labour MP (UK)

Brian Walden was born in 1932 and was educated at West Bromwich Grammar School before attending Queen's College and Nuffield College, Oxford. He became President of the Oxford Union in 1957 and later, a University Lecturer.

In politics Brian Walden became a Labour Party MP holding the seat of Birmingham, All Saints from 1964 to 1974 when he became Labour MP for Birmingham, Ladywood until 1977.

His career in television and journalism flourished in the 1980's to the point that in 1990 he was voted 'ITV Personality of the Year' and 'TV Times Current Affairs Personality of the Year'.

In addition to his highly rated series of interviews, Brian Walden has also been a columnist for the London Standard and Thomson Regional Papers; a Member of the West Midland Board, Central TV and presenter for LWT, Weekend World.

During his career Brian Walden has also been honoured with the Shell International Award in 1982 and the BAFTA Richard Dimbleby Award in 1985.
