Former President-Director General of the Bull Group and voted by Fortune as one of the "25 most influential business leaders", Jean-Marie Descarpentries is now President of FNEGE (National Foundation for the Development of Management and Leadership in Business). As CEO of Carnaud MetalBox (1982-1991) he was also responsible for the successful merger between Carnaud, then part of Wendel and American MetalBox, while creating the first European Packaging Company.

Jean-Marie Descarpentries was awarded the 1990 National Order of Merit, and in 1996 the Legion of Honour. He has written several articles which have been published in the Harvard Management Review. Descarpentries is also President of the Board of Trustees of SIDEL and a Member of the Strategic Committee of Ericsson France, Bolloré and SAP France. His successful leadership skills and extensive management experience are particularly evident during his time at Bull (1994-1997), when in 1995; he initiated the integration of the French sales operation within the international operation, securing Bull's financial stability and first successful growth since 1988.
