Matt Dawson MBE is a former English rugby union player. He is best known as a member of the World Cup winning 2003 England Rugby Union squad. The most capped England scrum half ever, Matt gained a reputation for playing intuitive rugby.
Matt retired from rugby in 2006. He is currently a team captain on the BBC's A Question of Sport as well as a rugby pundit on Radio 5 Live.

Throughout his career Matt has played for the Northampton Saints, the London Wasps and has represented the British Lions on two tours. He was applauded for his leadership qualities during England's tour of Australia and New Zealand - the Tour from Hell - in the summer of 1998. He was also honoured with England captaincy for the victorious Six Nations championship in 2000.
He has become one of the most outspoken players of the modern professional era. He appeared regularly as a studio guest on BBC Grandstand, and wrote a column in the Daily Telegraph - which generated considerable notoriety during the Lions Tour to Australia in the summer of 2001.
