Barry McGuigan is best known as a professional boxer and more recently a television commentator. He started boxing at an early age and in 1978 he won the Gold at the Commonwealth Games in Edmonton. He went on to win the British featherweight title in 1983, when he was also European champion, and in 1985 he became the WBA featherweight world champion.
In January 2005, Barry McGuigan was elected into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.

After his retirement, Barry became involved in sports commentary. He is an active fundraiser for charities, in particular children's and cancer charities. He is also engaged in various commercial ventures, his main occupation being a sports correspondent for television channel, Sky Sports and maxboxing.com. Barry has also tried his hand in acting and music.
