In August 1993, Heather Mills, then a £200,000 a-year model, lost part of her left leg in a road accident. Realising that her modelling career was over, and that first and foremost she was a businesswoman, she summoned the press into her hospital room and sold her story. Her accident, coupled with her extraordinary life, made great reading and she exploited the prevailing circumstances to the full.
"Overcoming adversity and, ultimately, denying it the right of passage, has been a constant motivation throughout my life"
