A recognised authority and leading commentator on the world financial markets. Hugo Dixon was previously head of the Financial Times' Lex column. He has now ventured into the realm of the Internet by launching Europe's first online services specialising in financial comment: Breakingviews.com.
Hugo Dixon is highly respected as an articulate speaker on financial markets and their trends and implications. Educated at Eton he graduated in 1985 from Balliol College, Oxford with a first class Degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics. He spent his first year as an Economics Journalist for the Economist Financial Report and then in 1986 joined the Financial Times. Hugo held several positions with the FT which included the appointment of Financial Services reporter (1985-86), Telecommunications correspondent (1988-92) and leader and feature writer (1992-94). In 1994 he joined the Lex column.
Hugo Dixon's abilities as a financial correspondent were recognised in 1991 when he won the Wincott Junior Financial Journalist of the Year award. In 2000 he also received the Business Journalist of the Year Award.
With his breadth of his experience and his analytical skills, Hugo Dixon decided to write his first book, which is published as "The Penguin Guide to Finance". It reflects a modern time financial theory in action.
