Bruce Dickinson relaunches Air Djibouti and lands first passenger jet in Djibouti. The maiden flight saw Bruce fly a Boeing 737 from Wales to the small nation on the Horn of Africa on Thursday 11 August 2016.

Originally founded in 1963, Air Djibouti remains a state-owned entity with management taken on by Cardiff Aviation, Dickinson’s company. Cardiff Aviation will manage a European air operator’s certificate for Air Djibouti, find aircraft and crew, provide operational management, personnel training and offer technical support from its base in south Wales. Thereby proving their “airline in a box” concept.

“Djibouti is uniquely placed to provide a hub for investment from Europe, the Middle East and Asia into Africa,” Dickinson said. “By providing full airline support and project implementation to Air Djibouti, Cardiff Aviation will bring a wealth of industry expertise and capability to one of the most exciting aviation markets in the world to spearhead growth in a region with tremendous potential.”
