Lewis Gordon Pugh Explorer, World Record Swimmer and Environmentalist

Lewis Gordon Pugh is one of the world's top long distance swimmers. Over a period of twenty years he has set 21 world records. He was the first person to complete a long distance swim in every ocean of the world and he has pioneered more swims around famous landmarks than any other swimmer in history. He will attempt to become the first person to kayak to the North Pole. A documentary about Lewis' work at the North Pole is being prepared and is expected to be shown on the BBC in 2009. He now spends much of his time public speaking and lobbying world leaders to protect the environment.

Lewis Gordon Pugh studied law at Cambridge University and then worked in a leading London law firm for a number of years. In 2003, he left full time law to campaign for the protection of the environment. In 2007 Lewis made international headlines when he undertook the first swim at the North Pole to raise awareness about the melting sea ice.
