Matt Dawson MBE is best known as a member of the World Cup winning 2003 England Rugby Union squad. With 77 caps under his belt, he is England's most capped scrum half, and gained a reputation for playing intuitive rugby. Matt retired from rugby in 2006, and is currently a team captain on the BBC's A Question of Sport as well as a rugby pundit on Radio 5 Live. His position on A Question of Sport has elevated him from a well-known rugby player to a national TV personality. In 2006 he took part in the BBC Celebrity Masterchef and won. He was the runner up in the BBC programme Strictly Come Dancing. More recently Matt presented his own cookery show Mitch and Matt Big Fish for UKTV Food.

Throughout his career Matt has played for the Northampton Saints, the London Wasps and has represented the British Lions on two tours. He was applauded for his leadership qualities during England's tour of Australia and New Zealand - the Tour from Hell - in the summer of 1998. He was also honoured with England captaincy for the victorious Six Nations championship in 2000.
He has become one of the most outspoken players of the modern professional era. He appeared regularly as a studio guest on BBC Grandstand, and wrote a column in the Daily Telegraph - which generated considerable notoriety during the Lions Tour to Australia in the summer of 2001.
