Dr. Vince Cable is MP for Twickenham and Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills and President of the Board of Trade. He joined the Liberal Democrat Shadow Cabinet in 1999 as spokesman on Trade and Industry. Until he was appointed to the Coalition Government as Business Secretary in 2010, he had been the Liberal Democrat Shadow Chancellor and the Deputy Leader of the Liberal Democrats. He is one of the most renowned experts on finance and economics and writes regularly for prestigious newspapers.

Vince held many key positions with focus on business and finance. Amongst others he was Treasury Finance Officer for the Kenyan Government and also First Secretary in the Diplomatic Service in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and as Deputy Director of the Overseas Development Institute. In 1995 he became Chief Economist for Shell International and has been Head of Economics at the Royal Institute of International Affairs. In 2003 he foresaw the current financial crisis and headed many warning campaigns.
