Al Murray

Comedian

Al Murray's big break came in 1994, when he was invited to compere Harry Hill's Edinburgh show Pub Internationale, and created the pub landlord character. He appeared as Harry Hill's big brother Alan in The Harry Hill Show from 1997-2000. After a wrangle as to whether he was 'too famous' to win it, Murray won the Perrier Award with a show based around the Pub Landlord character in 1999.

"The speed at which he picks off audience members and denigrates their jobs, their names, their accents or even their degrees is almost breathtaking." Steve Benett
