The global speaker bureau
Busy demonstrating that a crazed vision is no obstacle to success, Alan was compared to Ben Elton, Jasper Carrot, Bob Newhart and Tony Hancock. This nonsense only confused the young star but Julian Clary's comment that "he's got a lovely complexion when you see him close up", kept his feet on the ground.
He began his career with a three month trip across Canada performing at Fringe Festivals and Comedy Clubs in Winnipeg, Edmonton, Vancouver and Victoria. The stress and strains of performing for an hour to a room full of bemused Canadians did anything but arrest his development and, on his return, he was good.... within two years he was Time Out's Best Young Comic 1991.
He worked in Australia, America and Canada again, before appearances on Tonight with Jonathan Ross and numerous other bits of telly meant that by the end of 1992 quite a few people knew who he was and some of his friends stopped ringing him because they thought he was famous.
In March 1998, Alan completed a sell out season at the Duchess Theatre, London and a hugely successful Edinburgh Festival, with his one man stand-up show Urban Trauma. He also completed filming a Jonathan Creek - Christmas Special.
He is a bright and interesting young man with lots of interests, no really, but mainly Alan Davies is the best young stand-up comedian you have ever seen.
