Sir Christopher Meyer is one of Britain's most respected diplomats. He crowned a 40-year career by becoming the longest-serving British Ambassador to the U.S. since World War 2. He was at the heart of British-American relations during the Clinton and Bush presidencies, witnessing 9/11, the war in Afghanistan and the run-up to the war in Iraq. He described his time in Washington in his controversial best-selling memoir, 'DC Confidential'. He is Chairman of the Pagefield Advisory Board and a Non-Executive Director of the Arbuthnot Banking Group.

Prior to Washington, he was Ambassador in Germany, Press Secretary to Prime Minister John Major and Foreign Secretary Geoffrey Howe, speech writer to three Labour Foreign Secretaries and, among other postings, spent 5 years in the British Embassy in Moscow. After retiring from the Diplomatic Service in 2003, he was for 6 years Chairman of the Press Complaints Commission, coinciding with the start of the phone-hacking scandal. Since then he has become a prolific radio and television commentator on international affairs and the media. He has presented several documentaries, his latest being the 6-part series Networks of Power on Sky Atlantic.
