He was Chief economic advisor to Boris Johnson, the former Mayor of London, providing the Mayor with strategic advice and intelligence on the economic outlook for London and the global economy. Previously he spent 27 years in senior positions with leading international banks, beginning with Chase Manhattan, Chief UK economist at Swiss Bank, Chief economist at DKB International and most recently Head of Global Research (running a team of 184 people), Chief Economist and Advisor to the Board at Standard Chartered. During this time, he visited about 70 counties meeting policy makers and talking to clients and businesses.
