Richard Wilson is the recipient of a British Comedy Award and three BAFTAs, probably best known as the comically depressed Victor Meldrew in the long-running BBC-TV comedy series One Foot in the Grave, with some episodes seen by more than 16 million viewers, earning a place in the UK sitcom hall of fame. A serious stage, television and screen actor and sometimes director, he is also a public campaigner on political issues.

Ian Colquhoun Wilson OBE worked as a research scientist, before becoming an actor. He played hundreds of bit-part and supporting roles, before, in his mid 50's and probably much to his own surprise, being elevated to superstardom. In 1987 he came to prominence in the BBC Scotland comedy drama Tutti Frutti which picked up six BAFTAS including best drama series. He was awarded an OBE in 1994 and was Rector of the University of Glasgow (1996-98). His film appearances have included The Four-Minute Mile, The Man Who Knew Too Little, Soft Top Hard Shoulder and Women Talking Dirty.
