Rory Stewart OBE is a British politician, humanitarian and adventurer. As a former senior member of The Conservative Party he is standing as an Independent candidate for the Mayor of London. He came to prominence in the public eye when he made a bid to become Prime Minister following the resignation of Theresa May.

Rory has previously been the Minister of State at the Ministry of Justice, Minister of State for Africa in both the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, and the Department for International Development and the Minister of State and, prior to that, Minister for the Environment and Rural Affairs at DEFRA. In 2008 he was appointed as the Ryan Family Professor of the Practice of Human Rights and Director of the Carr Centre of Human Rights at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government. He has been awarded the Gold Medal of the Royal Scottish Geographical Society (for his work in Afghanistan), a Scottish BAFTA (for his documentary making) and honorary doctorates from Stirling University among others.
