Bruce has hung up his captain’s hat for the final leg of the Book of Souls tour and said goodbye to Ed Force One.

The specially customised plane has been taking Iron Maiden around the world on the Book of Souls Tour, with Bruce Dickinson piloting the plane. But Bruce revealed that his flight to the show in Gothenburg, Sweden on 17 June would be his last – even though there are another 20 tour dates that run until 4 August 2016.

Before heading to the flight deck for the last time, Bruce said:

“This is my last flight on Ed Force One. Myself and Steve are going down to Gothenburg and when she gets there, she’s going to go back with the Icelandic flight crew onboard to Iceland.

“But she’s got one more mission. Appropriately enough, it’s gonna go down to see a football match. They’re going to fly 350 people from Iceland down to Marseille to go and see a bit of what might be giant killing – Iceland v Hungary on Saturday.”

“It’s weird, it’s kind of an end of term sort of vibe. I’ll miss the big bird. But you know what? The show must go on and it certainly will.”
