Robinsons Brewery have released behind the scenes footage that shows the thought process behind the latest Iron Maiden beer “Hallowed”.

In the video, Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson joins head brewer Martyn Weeks in Robinsons’ beer laboratory. Guided by Martyn, they taste a number of samples to find the perfect combination of Belgian yeasts strains and hops to produce the unique flavour profile of a new hybrid beer style that celebrates the best of English and Belgian brewing.

The crystal rye gives Hallowed a blood red hue and a smooth dry finish. Whilst the Belgian style yeast and Noble hops combine to deliver a complex palate of subtle banana and a sweet plum finish.

After the tasting session, Bruce finally gets to try the finished product whilst on the Belgian leg of Iron Maiden’s Book of Souls tour. It’s an obvious hit with the Iron Maiden front man as he claims:

“That is something which is a thing of beauty. And I tell you what, I’m really proud of that.”

Hallowed follows on from the success of the original TROOPER, which has sold over 15 million pints since its launch in 2013 and joins previous limited edition beers TROOPER 666 and RED ‘N’ BLACK.

Available from October 2017 for a limited period of four months, you can order Hallowed from https://www.robinsonsbrewery.com/store/hallowed/c-24/p-3361.
