This September Bruce is teaming up with his son Griffin to take part in the Dash to the Med race from Reigate to Cannes, to help raise £50,000 for charity.
The Dickinson boys will make up one of the 16 teams of friends from Reigate, who will be racing in cars costing no more than £500 in this 832 mile race. A race that stipulates no use of motorways GPS or Sat Nav!
Teams will start their journey in cars that are past their best on Wednesday 21st September, with the aim of reaching the finishing line at Cannes on Saturday 24th September. Amongst the cars already lined up to compete are a 25 year old hearse with a top speed of 30 mph!
Whilst the race itself is largely about having fun amongst friends, the Dash to the Med has a more serious ambition of raising funds for special causes close to their hearts:
- The Variety Club of Great Britain who provide practical help to families with children coping with sickness, disability or disadvantage.
- East Surrey Domestic Abuse Services who offer help and practical advice to anyone affected by domestic abuse and violence.
- The Childrens Trust. For Children with Brain Injury who provide expert rehabilitation, education, therapy and care to support children and families.
- The RGS Foundation whose Changing Lives campaign provides open access opportunities to scholars whose potential is far greater than their financial means.
