'Wheels on Fire' is an inside account of the biggest industrial merger in history, the DaimlerChrysler union, which combines a thrilling narrative with serious analysis. It demonstrates how the deal is a template for business in the 21st Century and shows a truly fascinating account of 'globalisation in action'.
David Waller holds a degree in English Language and Literature from Balliol College Oxford University and began his career as a feature writer for the Investors Chronicle in 1986. Between 1987 and 1995 David worked as a Financial Journalist for the Financial Times (FT), by first joining the City desk, with special responsibilities for take-overs, mergers and investment analyses. From 1991 to 1994, he became their Frankfurt Correspondent, covering the financial sector (banking, insurance, capital markets), the Bundesbank (including collapse of ERM and analysis of German monetary policy) and German industry. Coming back to England in September 1994, David joined the FT's Lex-Column as Deputy Editor.
After having worked as Vice President at J.P. Morgan for a year, David Waller founded his own company, Chancery Communications, a specialist financial communications consultancy, in 1996.
The German version of his book 'Wheels on Fire', entitled 'Die Stunde des Strategen' was issued in October 2000 and rapidly achieved bestseller status.
David Waller speaks on numerous financial and communications related subjects, but the story of the deal, a powerful, interesting and also amusing talk, drawing lessons from 'globalisation in action' will probably move into the forefront.
David is an experienced speaker, but also facilitates and moderates meetings and conferences. He is fluent in both English and German.
