Sir Brian Pitman, former Chairman of Lloyds TSB Group is one of the leading business authorities in the financial world. Widely acclaimed by the banking fraternity for his vision and insight, Sir Brian is credited for being ahead of his time in recognising the cost-savings that could be achieved from inter-bank mergers. He held a number of senior positions within the Lloyds group, including spells in Europe and the USA. In 1993, he was voted Financial World European Banking CEO of the Year.

Sir Brian is currently director of Singapore Airlines Ltd, Tomkins PLC, The Carphone Warehouse Group Plc, Senior Advisor to Morgan Stanley and Governor of Ashridge Management College. He recently stepped down as director of ITV plc. In 1983 he became Chief Executive of Lloyds Bank and Group Chief Executive of the new Lloyds TSB Group in 1995, when Lloyds Bank merged with TSB. He was appointed Chairman of the Lloyds TSB Group in 1997 and after a career of almost 50 years with Lloyds he retired in 2001. Sir Brian was knighted for his services to banking in 1994 and received a number of awards and recognitions. He was also Master of the Guild of International Bankers from 2002 to 2003.
