Dietrich von Kyaw is a former member of the Committee of Permanent Representatives in Brussels, COREPER, said to be the most influential decision making body of the EU.

A Law and Political Sciences graduate he studied at the Universities of Bonn, Chicago and Liège. In 1964 he joined the Foreign Service of the Federal Republic of Germany and his diplomatic career spans 30 years covering appointments in Africa, the USA and Europe.
