"People say that if you're famous you give up the right to privacy. I'm an actor. I'm not a celebrity"
Alan began performing stand-up-comedy at the Whitstable Labour Club. In 1991, he was named Time Out's Best Young Comic. He continued touring and performing in the UK and Canada, winning the Edinburgh Festival Critics Award for Comedy in 1994. Alan won the Time Out Award for Best Comic in 1991 and the work offers began to increase slowly, but surely. In 1995, he appeared on the spoof travel show, One for the Road.
