The global speaker bureau
Yanis Varoufakis is an economist who served as Minister of Finance of Greece in 2015. He had a short but remarkable career at the top of European politics, storming from relative obscurity to headline news before resigning, all within six months. He is Professor of Economic Theory at the University of Athens and a private consultant for Valve Corporation.
"The voice and face of the Greek economic situation"

After training in mathematics and statistics, he received his PhD in economics in 1987 at the University of Essex. In 2015, the International University College of Turin awarded to Varoufakis a Honorary Professorship in Comparative Law Economics and Finance for his extraordinary theoretical contribution to the understanding of the global economic crisis.
