The triple Olympic gold medallist, was two times World Champion and won 9 times the European Chamionchips in both individual and team events. Jochen Schuemann holds the prestigious position of Sailing Team Director and strategist for the Swiss Alinghi Team. He will continue with Alinghi preparing for the Americas Cup in 2007.

Born in the GDR Jochen started his career in the Berlin Club SC Grünau - he still belongs to the club. He is honorary member of the Olymp-Club Rostock and a member of the committee campaigning for Leipzig's Olympic bid in 2012. In 2004 he was skipper of Alinghi for the Moët Cup, which took place between 15th and 20th September in San Francisco.
