Beatrice Weder di Mauro is Professor of Economics at the University of Mainz, a member of the German Council of Economic Experts and a research affiliate at the Center for Economic Policy Research, (CEPR) London. Beatrice has been a columnist for Basler Zeitung, Switzerland since November 1998.

Previously she worked as an economist at the International Monetary Fund and at the World Bank, Washington. She has served on the Council of Economic Advisors of Switzerland and been a consultant for various international organizations including the International Finance Corporation, the World Bank, the IMF, the United Nations University and the OECD Development Centre. She had visiting positions at Harvard University and the United Nations University and holds a PhD from the University of Basel.
