Lothar Späth serves as President and Chairman of Comparable Controlling Body of Suba Beteiligungs AG, and Jomed AG. He is Vice President of Merrill Lynch Europe and is responsible for its German operators. He took over as Head of Jenoptik GmbH (D) in 1991 and became Chairman in 1996. He serves as Chairman of Supervisory Board of Herrenknecht AG and as Chairman of the supervisory boards of Süba Bau AG, Jenoptik Photonics AG, Süba Beteiligungs AG and M+W Zander Holding AG.

Lothar Späth's political career included his role as the Deputy Party Chairman of the Christian-Democrats from 1981 to 1989 and became a member of the party's presiding committee in 1990 as well as Honorary Chairman in Baden-Württemberg. Dr. Späth is an Honorary Doctor at the Universities Karlsruhe and Pecs (Hungary) and is an Honorary Senator at the University of Jena. In 1998 he began moderating the weekly German talkshow Späth am Abend (Späth in the evening) on n-tv.
