Rob Bonnet is a household name and face of sports broadcasting, having spent most of his BBC career as a sports journalist, covering Olympic Games, World Cups and Commonwealth Games, along with major golf events such as the Open Championship and the Ryder Cup. He runs Five Iron Productions and is a director of the Internet TV service The Country Channel and remains a broadcaster with BBC World's Extra Time sports interview programme as well as BBC Radio 4's Today programme. For ten years, he was also the main sports presenter on BBC Breakfast, stepping down from this role in 2005.

Before joining the BBC he had worked as a dustman, an advertising number cruncher and a disc-jockey. At the last count, he has been to three World Cups, two Commonwealth Games, one Olympic Games and numerous other big sports events. He presented the sports news on BBC World and on the main Saturday evening bulletin on BBC1. He has hosted the Radio Five Live programme, Inside Edge, a discussion programme on sports news and issues, and also guest presents for Five Live on Sportsweek, Sportsnight and Chiles on Saturday.
