Graham Taylor OBE

Former England Football Manager

Graham Taylor OBE is particularly remembered for being manager of the England national football team. In addition, he was the manager of Watford, a club he took from the Fourth Division to the First within five years, then from foot of the second division to the Premier League in two seasons, two decades later. He was Vice President at League One club Scunthorpe United and Manager of Villa Aston. Graham is a regular pundit with the BBC Radio Five Live team.

In detail

His playing career began with Grimsby Town in 1962. He then joined Lincoln City in 1968 until his retirement in 1972 due to a serious injury. He was the youngest person to become a FA coach, at the age of 21. He became manager of Lincoln City and led Lincoln to the Fourth Division title in 1976 and in 1977 he was hired to manage Watford. In 1987 he left for a new challenge: the newly relegated Aston Villa. Following his success with Aston Villa, Graham took over the England national football team and led them to the Euro 92 championships before leaving in 1993. He was manager of Wolves from 1994 to 1995 and in 1996 became General Manager at Watford.
