Prof. Turi E King is a Professor of Public Engagement and Genetics at the University of Leicester. Turi is best known for her work "cracking one of the biggest forensic DNA cases in history". The genetic analysis in the identification of King Richard III. Her work on the case catapulted her onto the world stage.

Turi is also known for her work alongside Stacey Dooley in BBC2’s DNA Family Secrets. Turi started her career in archaeology, first in Canada and later reading for a degree in Archaeology and Anthropology at the University of Cambridge. Graduating with a BA(Hons), she then went to study at the world-famous Genetics Department at the University of Leicester on a scholarship, to read for an MSc in Molecular Genetics. Her award-winning PhD examined the relationship between the Y chromosome and British surnames combining forensic DNA techniques with history and genealogy, the first large scale study of its kind. She is an Honorary Fellow of the British Science Association, and a Fellow of the Society of Biology.

In her presentations, Turi shares with audiences worldwide how her work over the years at the interface between genetics, forensics, history, and archaeology has seen her study the genetic legacy of the Vikings in the north of England, the link between genetics and surnames and later added ancient DNA research to her portfolio.
