Award-Winning Comedian, Broadcaster & Disability Advocate
Jamie MacDonald is an award-winning blind Glaswegian stand-up comedian, writer and voice-over artist who is redefining perceptions of disability through humour and sharp social insight. A regular face on British television, Jamie has appeared on Live at The Apollo, QI, Celebrity MasterChef, and Have I Got News For You. He stars as Ronnie Scott in BBC Scotland’s hit comedy The Scotts, and won the Grierson Award for Best Presenter for his BBC Two documentary Blind Ambition.
“I might have lost my sight, but I’ve gained a unique perspective—and a killer sense of humour. Life doesn’t always go to plan, but that’s where the good stories begin.”
Jamie is also a celebrated radio talent, having written and performed two series of Life on the Blink for BBC Radio 4 and contributed to The Now Show and Museum of Curiosity. His radio drama Blind Sided showcased his gift for blending comedy with poignant storytelling. A compelling speaker as well as a performer, Jamie has spoken at the Oxford Union, featured on The Moth podcast, and contributed to The Guardian and Evening Times. With seven acclaimed Edinburgh Fringe shows under his belt and his eighth in development, Jamie brings warmth, wit, and a fearless perspective to every stage he steps onto.
Drawing on his experiences of losing his sight and building a successful career in comedy and broadcasting, he challenges perceptions and inspires teams to embrace change, overcome adversity, and find strength through humour.
