Joe MacInnis is one of the world's most respected ocean scientists and the first person to dive under the North Pole and among the first five to dive to the Titanic. He was an advisor to the Titanic discovery team and the first Canadian to explore the world's most famous shipwreck.

Joe MacInnis spent the first ten years of his career as a diving physician working on the health and safety of industrial and military divers. He worked with James Cameron on the eagerly awaited IMAX film, Aliens of the Deep, filmed at a volcanic vent half a mile under the Atlantic and in 2010, he was one of 28 academics, scientists, government and private-sector experts who worked again with James Cameron to map out possible new strategies for dealing with the huge oil spill spreading through the Gulf of Mexico. Joe is currently working with the movie director James Cameron on his seven-mile scientific survey of the Mariana Trench, seven miles below the surface of the Western Pacific. Joe will participate as safety officer and e-press secretary.
