Pep Torres has built a career that crosses the boundaries between invention, design, art, communication and entrepreneurship. Born in Barcelona, he has developed a distinctly multidisciplinary approach to creativity, combining his work as an inventor with writing, music, design and media. His curiosity has led him to create hundreds of innovative objects and concepts, many of which explore everyday behaviour through humour, technology and unexpected solutions. One of his best-known inventions, a human-powered vending machine that requires users to pedal before receiving their chosen snack or drink, was selected by TIME for its 50 Best Inventions of 2009.

Pep has also been recognised by Forbes for his creativity in business and has appeared on the front page of The Wall Street Journal, while contributing to the Financial Times. His publishing career includes several books exploring creativity and ideas, including 100 Ideas para Llevar, and he has collaborated extensively with radio and television.

A significant part of his professional journey has involved creating platforms that encourage people to experiment with ideas. He founded and managed the AATIC International Ideas and Inventions Fair in Vilanova i la Geltrú and has participated as a judge at international invention and innovation competitions in Europe and the United States. His work has also included collaborations with major organisations and brands such as FC Barcelona, NTT DATA, Familia Torres, Paco Roncero and Mery.

Pep’s creative philosophy is rooted in curiosity and in looking at familiar situations from unexpected perspectives. This approach has become central to his Differential Thinking methodology, which he developed to help organisations question conventional assumptions and identify less obvious opportunities.
