Ranga has received more than 60 professional awards and has been honoured many times over, including honorary doctorates from the universities of Wuppertal and Koblenz, an honorary professorship from Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences, the Federal Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Order of Merit of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, and the Ordre de Mérite du Grand-Duché de Luxembourg. He obtained his degree of Diplomphysiker at Aachen University with specialisation in Experimental Particle Physics and Astrophysics. He complemented this by working at the Swiss Institute for Nuclear Research, at the CERN in Geneva and at the Research Centre, Jülich. Ranga is an experienced speaker and presenter engaged in many international projects and member of boards in the fields of Innovation, Education and Knowledge Propagation.
