Widely recognised as the world’s first Chief AI Ethics Officer, a role she pioneered in 2014, Kay has spent more than a decade developing frameworks that promote trustworthy, transparent and human-centred AI. She served as Head of AI and Machine Learning and a member of the Executive Committee at the World Economic Forum, where she led initiatives influencing governments, businesses and international institutions worldwide. A contributor to the landmark Asilomar AI Principles, co-founder of the Responsible AI Institute and Vice-Chair of the IEEE Global Initiative on Ethical AI, Kay remains at the forefront of AI governance and policy development. In 2024, she received a prestigious TIME100 AI Impact Award in recognition of her significant contribution to responsible AI worldwide.
